Notion AI

Notion AI is the assistant built into Notion, the notes and collaboration tool. Its advantage is living inside your documents: continue a draft, rewrite, summarise meeting notes, turn a page into a table — no copy-pasting between apps.

The more valuable part is that you can ask questions across your whole workspace to surface scattered information, with answers pointing back to the source pages. For teams that use Notion as their knowledge base, that is like adding a conversational search layer on top of years of accumulated docs.

That said, it is not worth migrating for if you do not already use Notion. Raw writing quality is no better than a standalone chat model; the value comes from sitting on top of your notes.

How to use

1. Sign up on the Notion website, or upgrade an existing workspace to a plan that includes AI.
2. Press space on a page or use a slash command to bring up the AI, then pick an action.
3. Select a passage to have the AI rewrite, summarise or translate just that text.
4. To find information, open the AI chat panel, ask your question and click the citations to jump to the original pages.
5. Add an AI property to a database to process every entry in bulk.

Best for

• Searching a team knowledge base: When there are lots of docs and finding things is hard, Q&A shows its value most.
• Meeting and project notes: Get notes and action items right after a meeting instead of tidying up later.
• Everyday writing help: Polish and fill out proposals and weekly reports without breaking your flow.
• Bulk organising: Use database AI properties to summarise and categorise many entries.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

• Deeply integrated with your documents; no copy-paste.
• Answers draw on the whole workspace, not just the current page.
• Almost no learning curve for teams already on Notion.

Limitations

• Full use requires a paid plan, which is not cheap for individuals.
• Raw writing quality is no better than standalone chat models; demanding writing still calls for another tool.
• Its value depends heavily on what you have already stored in Notion, so new users will struggle to see the benefit.
