What is Gaoding?

Gaoding is a Chinese online design platform available on the web, as a desktop client and as a mobile app. The approach is similar to Canva — start from a template, drag to edit, export fast — with more localised templates and assets.

Templates are tuned for the Chinese market: product listing images, WeChat article covers, Xiaohongshu posts, holiday posters and livestream graphics, with sizes preset to the specs of local platforms.

AI tools have been its focus in recent years — background removal, object erase, upscaling and product-shot generation — which is especially handy for online sellers: take a plain or casual product photo, swap the background or generate a scene around it, then drop it into a listing template.

Key features

  • Localised templates: E-commerce, social media, holiday marketing and in-store materials, sized for major Chinese platforms.
  • AI cutouts: One-click background removal for people and products, with fairly clean edges.
  • AI erase and enhance: Remove clutter, stray text or unwanted areas, and sharpen blurry images.
  • AI product shots: Place a product into an AI-generated scene, replacing some of the cost of a photo shoot.
  • Batch processing: Resize or apply templates in bulk — useful for large product catalogues.

How to use

  1. Open gaoding.com or install the Gaoding app and sign in with a phone number or WeChat.
  2. Choose a template category that matches your use, such as product listings or Xiaohongshu covers.
  3. Replace text and images, and use the AI tools to cut out, erase, enhance or generate product scenes.
  4. Export. For commercial use, first confirm that the assets and fonts you used are covered by your membership licence.

Best for

  • Online sellers: listing images, detail pages, promo graphics and cutouts are where it shines.
  • Social media teams: covers for WeChat, Xiaohongshu and Douyin match each platform’s style.
  • Shops and local businesses: holiday posters, menus and price lists come together quickly.
  • High-volume work: batch features save real time when many product images need the same treatment.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Templates and assets match Chinese platforms and tastes, and are easier to browse than international Canva for that purpose.
  • A full set of e-commerce AI tools, from retouching to finished images.
  • Direct access in China, with convenient payment and invoicing.

Limitations

  • The free tier’s assets are limited; many templates, fonts and AI features need a membership.
  • Commercial licensing is detailed, and personal and business memberships cover different uses — confirm before commercial use.
  • As with any template tool, results can look alike.
  • Limited control over complex designs; it does not replace professional design software.
